Firstly, as has been
\nannounced previously to members, Iwil not be seeking re-election as President of the organization. I do again express my sincerest thanks and deep appreciation to
\nthe officers and members for their solid and unwavering support during my terms in office. It has been a pleasure and honour to be of service to society, humanity and the organization. Iwill continue to render support, advice, input, assistance and help as requested. Iwill take on the role of past president as provided in the Constitution.
\nThe period underreview, continued to be negatively impacted by thethroes of the Covid pandemic. The Covid pandemic, as we may be aware, affected every area of our existence. We do know that the government at every level, businesses and other social groups and organizations were also impacted negatively. As reported in the
\nlast period, we resumed our in-person meetings at our meeting location at the Churchill Meadows Library and Older Adult Community Centre at 3801 Thomas Street in Mississauga in October of 2021.
\nAt the restart, we followed the protocols for Covid set in place by the government authorities. As a result of these actions, some of our social interactions were impacted. As changes and relief to the protocols were removed, we were able to restore some of the accustomed and traditional activities starting in March 2022. We do thank the management and staff of the centre for their ongoing and solid support and cooperation.
\nThe use of Zoom technology was continued, as well as in-person meetings on Tuesdays. Members unable to attend in person were afforded the opportunityt o
\nparticipate in our meetings. We did however experience technical difficulties which resulted in our inability to continue to provide this outreach service to those members. I do recommend to the incoming board That we do look into the subiect matter and that we purchase the necessary equipment to reintroduce the service.
\nOur thanks to our Secretary Rita Challenger, Irene Halliday, our Assistant Social Coordinator and Jerry Halliday, our vice president who played key roles in this endeavour.
\nAttendance
\nDuring the period under review our average attendance was 43 members per session. Attendance has been impacted by aging, mobility, distance, transportation,<\/p>\n
family commitments and medical appointments. It is a subjectwhich we are constantlyreviewing for remedies.
\nThe Board of Management
\nThe board of management of the Mississauga 55+ Carican group for the period ending September 2022 are as follows:
\nPresident
\nVice President Secretary
\nAssistant Secretary
\nTreasurer
\nPublic Relations
\nAssistance Public Relations Officer Social Coordinator
\nAssistant Social Coordinator Health Coordinator
\nTrustees Internal Auditor
\nOrlander Marshall Jerry Halliday
\nRita Challenger Betty Pottinger Roy Maynard Wilma Francis Lorna Noel Pearline Clarke Irene Halliday Norma Carter
\nGloria Davis, Frank Smith Leroy Nelson
\n*Lots Gooding serves as Special Advisor regarding Treasury Matters
\nI do want to thank every member of the Board for their dedicated work and contributions to the Organization.
