The Mississauga 55 Plus Caribbean-Canadian Group is a local non-profit community organization with over 100 members. Twenty-five members established the group in 2003 in an effort to promote unity in the first generation Caribbean community.
Specifically, we strive to develop and maintain cultural, educational, social, recreational and fundraising programs to assist members in fully participating in and contributing to society in general.
Some of our social activities and special events include:
Monthly Guest Speakers from Government and members of the Medical, Financial and Social Arenas
Milestone Birthdays acknowledged by the Prime Minister and/or other Government Officials
Weekly pot luck lunches and a monthly group lunch
Black History Month Celebrations
Summer Brunch, Spring Fling and Games Day
Picnics and Bar-b-queues in the parks
Caribbean Islands Independence Day Celebrations
Anniversary Dinner and Dance
Christmas Dinner and Dance
New Years Eve Dinner and Dance
Shopping and Bus Trips
Dancing with an in House Dance Group organized by Norma Carter (a member) and
Music supplied daily by our DJ, Edwin Wilson
Craft Days with members knitting and crocheting items for donation to various organizations.
